2014 – A year to savour Scotland
There is absolutely no denying that 2014 is going to be one long (no doubt whisky fuelled) celebration in Scotland. In fact if you have been thinking about a visit to Scotland we would urge you to give 2014 some serious consideration.
The Scots are of course a nation of proud and passionate people and we do love nothing more than sharing the best of our country with you. Naturally the team at Tasting Scotland want to extend an invitation to enjoy the best of the country’s food and drink. Be it on one of our gourmet journeys for some freshly caught crab or lobster from a small, wooden hut in a picturesque traditional fishing village to a gastronomic experience at an award winning fine dining restaurant up in the heather clad highlands there is nothing better than enjoying food and drink from the country of origin.
As we sit and prepare our range of gourmet journeys for you to choose from for 2014 there is much excitement in the Glasgow based Tasting Scotland Headquarters. Many of the team experienced the thrill of the Olympics in London last summer and we know that in July 2014, Glasgow will put on a Commonwealth Games show like no other.
Of course, before July we look forward to Whisky Month in May. A month long celebration of our national drink and you can be rest assured we will have some fantastic food and whisky based experiences to enjoy. As we speak we are in the thick of planning a week long culinary and whisky adventure that gives you the chance to experience the different whisky regions and producers and the resultant whisky style nuances. That coupled with dining experiences in Scotland’s must dine in eateries and the chance to meet our food heroes, the small scale artisan producers, ensures you are getting to taste the true spirit of our country.
In June we have the Battle of Bannockburn 700th Anniversary celebration. Against the might of the English, the Scots led by King Robert the Bruce enjoyed a triumphant win in 1314 during the most famous battle in the ‘Wars of Independence’. Naturally we will have a short break tour to tie in with this event and that will be one you won’t want to miss.
And finally to put the icing on the cake we will also be celebrating another ‘Year of Homecoming’. This is a particularly interesting time for anyone who has Scottish ancestry links and we are delighted that we will be putting together a special ‘Homecoming Food & Drink’ Experience. So like I said if you were thinking of Scotland we think 2014 may be the very year.

Mustn’t forget to let you know that we also have a ‘Self-drive’ food and drink option in development too. Never a dull moment!
So until we next share a table, eat well.
Tastefully yours,
Brenda
